(Pre-conference) meetings and workshops
On Wednesday, 26th of October, several committee meetings and workshops will take place before the opening of the conference. Most of these meetings are closed committee meetings or require registration and/or have limited places.
One workshop for which registrations are welcome is the user involvement meeting. In order to apply for participating at this meeting, please register here.
There will also be a workshop on usability of the CLARIN webportal and webservices, with a limited number of places. If you are interested in or even better, an expert on questions of usability, please consider registring for this workshop and look here for more information.
Usability assessment and improvement activities during the Conference
CLARIN is currently working on assessing and improving the usability of the CLARIN website and some central services. Your input is very welcome:
- Please answer this short questionnaire on usability (ideally before the conference, so that the results can be discussed on the pre-conference-workshop).
- During the conference, we plan to make interviews and a short testing of usability in the coffee- and lunch breaks. If you want to volunteer, please contact the organizers of the pre-conference-workshop (via email or via the conference desk).
- We will also be present on the Bazaar, where you can visit and give your input on (improving) CLARIN's usability.
Sign up for the CLARIN Bazaar
The CLARIN bazaar will be an informal space on the afternoon of Thursday, the 27th of October, where you can meet people from other centres and countries, find out about their work in progress, exchange ideas, and talk to people about future collaborations. The bazaar will provide an informal setting for conversations with CLARIN people, and space to show your work to colleagues on their laptop computer, and distribute handouts and leaflets.
Please sign up if you want to have a 'stall' in the bazaar. All participants in the CLARIN Annual Conference are expected to attend the bazaar, so it should be a good opportunity to disseminate your work and to find interested parties.
Accommodation
CLARIN has made block reservations at various hotels in Aix-en-Provence. For subsidized paprticiapts, rooms are offered against a reduced price (see the hotel information). When registering for the conference as a subsidized participant, a request for reservation can be made by indicating your first and second preference. (This option will expire after 26 September 2016). The CLARIN Office will process the requests on the basis of ‘first come first serve’. You will receive a confirmation of your registration/hotel booking via email. Non-subsidized participants are requested to make their own arrangements, but the CLARIN Office can always be contacted for advice.
Conference venue
The 5th edition of the CLARIN Annual Conference will take place at the Centre de Congrès.
